Erm
Yeah, very drunk right now....typing through one eye.
WTF is it with clubs in the "best" part (Las Canitas) of Buenos Aires playing soft-core, handbag, eurohouse that passed as dance-able music in the late-90's UK? Grrr, could only take so much dancing with my "elbows out". Ghey.
Blah.......vodka+budweiser, obv time to hit the $5/$10 tables. Graph to follow....

Ramblings
So I'm a perpetually travelling online poker pro eh? Got to admit I'm beginning to feel like a bit of a fraud, especially this month.
I've notched up a whole 1224 hands in October, (I have poker tracker back, yey) and as far as the travelling goes: in the last 2 years I haven't been anywhere other than Argentina and the UK. There are legit excuses for both:
On the poker-front other business interests are taking up much of my time. The biggest downside to playing poker for a living for me has to be the fact that I need to put a lot of hours in. Combine this with the fact that poker really isn't my passion and you get a lazy so-and-so who's always looking for other ways to make a living online.
Travel-wise, rightly or wrongly, I've become tied to a girl here in Buenos Aires. While part of me wants to up laptop and try life in Thailand (or somewhere like that) a bigger part of me is quite happy with his lot.
FWIW my months performance at the tables is graphed below (I run GOOT). I doubt I'll even manage this much over November, I really want ot focus on developing another website.

Argy gossip
Argy Newsflash:
More intersting than this weekends general election (for me at least) is the sad news yesterday that 24 year old Reinaldo Waveqche lost his 82 year old wife Adelfa Volpes to "heart problems" recently. Sadly they had only enjoyed one month togethor as a married couple.

Absolute Scandal
Well, there's no getting around it, the news that Absolute Poker had a security breach of gargantuan proportions has hit/is hitting the mass media as I type. Those who ensured that Absolute couldn't sweep the scandal under the carpet when they first tried to (about a month ago) have been contacted by ABCnews and ESPN by all accounts. The $hit really has hit the fan.
This has to be the biggest story since online poker was born around 8 years ago, and to be honest a big part of me hoped it would just go away.....unnnoticed by the general public (read: unnoticed by your average casual fish). Selfish I know, but without the casual players, making a living playing poker online becomes all but impossible (certainly for decidely average players like myself).
So many casual players declare online poker to be rigged. Now they'll probably see it in tomorrows press and I strongly suspect that, in the short-term at least, most won't bother to deposit and donate to those players who depend on them so greatly.
Don't get me wrong, Absolute deserve to go down for this (and those responsible held fully accountable) but I just see the online poker world as a whole taking a beating for the actions of one low-life site.
If you aren't yet aware of what I'm refering to here's a reasonably-written summary of events. For the full story you should really checkout this 2+2 thread.
To summarise: It's been proven beyond reasonable doubt (IMO) that certain players at Absolute (possibly employees/owners no-less) could see their opponents hole-cards. Bit of an advantage eh? For non-players you can see just how much of an advantage this is by watching the Tubes of the culprits' (screename: POTRIPPER) "stunning" performance winning a MultiTable Tournament last month. He won approaching $40K in this tournament alone I believe.
It's not all doom and gloom I guess, wise players will stick to those sites that are fully regulated in European jurasdictions for example. Problem is, I'd prefer to play against as few "wiser players" as possible.
Sometimes the world of gaming can be so ugly.

Video Poker treats me well.
I hit another royal flush playing videopoker this week for a very welcome £1000 GBP, and a career best $3200USD day. I'm really experiencing the joys of the upside of variance this month (I'm evening winning at Poker Stars) and my naturally cautious nature is already dreading the inevitable down-turn.
Still, time to stop and smell the roses as they say.

Sitemeter down
And it has been for over 24hrs now...shame, the highlight of my day is checking out where my visitors have come from, and how they got here.
Best get on with some proper work then.

Flat hunting in Buenos Aires
I've spent the last week searching for a new apartment, and fortunately found the perfect place in the Barrio of Congreso. Congresso is a working class district just south of the very centre of Buenos Aires, and I already feel much more at home here than I ever did in the richer Barrios of Belgrano/Palermo.
The building I'm living in as 120 years old and full of character. I overlook a large courtyard which means it's blissfully quiet, it's such a refreshing change to be woken up by birdsong (something I thought couldn't happen in this city) rather than ambulance sirens or the engine noise of rundown old buses.
Here are some snaps of the apartment, at $650 USD per month (including all commission, bills etc) it isn't dirt cheap, but it is still very good value IMO. It's very modern inside, and the price includes broadband, cable TV, air conditioning and weekly maid service.
I'm a few blocks from the Plaza de Congresso (I snapped the below photo on my cell phone yesterday when out for a walk) and a variety of other very interesting architecture.
There are many, many estate agents offering temporary accomodation for tourists in Buenos Aires. This time I dealt with WayToBAWay.com. The owners, Ignacio and Martin, spoke excellent English and were both extremely professional. If you come to Buenos Aires and are looking for somewhere to rent on a short term basis I highly recommend them.
